The Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) announced
it has awarded to a Korean consortium the civil works consultancy
contract for the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) Extension from
Marikina City to Cainta in Rizal province.
The winning consortium, composed of Foresight Development and
Surveying Co., Soosung Engineering Co. Ltd. and Korea Rail Network
Authority, submitted a bid of P240.77 million, it said on Thursday. The
bid was P100 million lower than the DOTC project cost ceiling of P350
million.
The cost of the infrastructure development for the LRT-2 extension project is P9.7 billion.
The LRT-2 will be extended from the Santolan Station in Marikina City
to Masinag, Cainta in Rizal province, for a total of 4.2 kilometers.
The rail link stretches 3.8 kilometers from the Recto Station in Manila
to the Santolan Station in Marikina City. It is the most modern city
rail system in Metro Manila
The other groups that took part in the bidding for the civil works
consultancy include JF Cancio and Associates and Development Engineering
and Management Corp., Engineering and Development Corp. of the
Philippines, Filipinas Dravo Corp., TCGI Engineers, Urban Integrated
Consultants Inc., and Oriental Consultants Co. Ltd.
